Man-Crush

It doesn't matter if you're a totally straight, manly-man guy. Every guy has their man-crushes. Perfect examples would be the entire male population of the state of Wisconsin's man-crush on Brett Favre, or every man in New England's crush on that terrible human being known as Tom Brady. But I'll have to admit, as a straight man, and a fan of spectator sports, I've got my man-crushes as well.

It may seem out of the ordinary but I'm not focusing on the more popular sports like football, baseball, or basketball. No, my man-crush is for a professional tennis player. Take a couple guesses, you can probably only think of a few players (Federer, Nadal, Roddick, Serena Williams...yeah, she's a man too).

The guy I'm talking about, even though he's ranked number 3 in the world behind Federer and Nadal, is probably completely anonymous to you. I'm talking about Novak Djokovic from Serbia. This guy is amazing, and hilarious at the same time. Just recently he defeated the un-touchable Roger Federer at the Australian Open in the semi-finals, and holds a 2-5 lifetime record against Federer (which is a better ratio than probably anyone else in the field if you exclude Nadal's clay victories). The guy came from a country torn apart by war, climbed the ATP ladder, and is now the favorite to win the Aussie Open (in the finals against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, who took out Rafael Nadal in the other semi-final).

You've always got to root for the underdog, and he was an underdog when it came to how and where he had to grow up. The kid is only 20 years old and has effectively taken the tennis world by storm. His antics at last year's US Open have given him even more fame, due to his hilariously accurate on-court impressions of other tennis players (most notably that loud-in-the-sack Maria Sharapova).
